Have you been sent spam with our return address?

Spam attack

Starting on the 16th September 2003, we started to receive huge amounts of returned or undeliverable-email messages with return addresses to <someone> at londontrading.co.uk.

We do not send spam. We did not send these messages. They were not routed via our servers.

What we were suffering from is known as a 'Joe Job', named after the first poor s*d who suffered such an attack. Someone was sending out these mails with a forged return address pointing to nonexistent staff at London trading. Sorry, but it wasn't us.

What can be done about it?

This sort of attack is criminal in that it is fraudulent and forges a return address. That attack is now over. We worked with the appropriate authorities in Europe and the US to identify and stop the perpetrators.

If you receive anything similar apparently from us, since we did not send the mail there is very little else we can do to prevent you receiving it. Sorry. The staff are fictitious.
